Catcher's Blog: Yunel and Furcal as DP partners and KJ at First?

It's an interesting proposition. KJ's D at second has not been spectacular this year. But we also have Brent Lillibridge coming up at shortstop. He might factor into that equation as well, and much more cheaply than Furcal. (Though he's swinging a cold bat in Richmond so far.) Bear in mind that we're probably going to have to drop some mad loot on starting pitching next year, too.

That is true. I didn't factor in Lillibridge. Yeah, that's also true. Pitching doesn't come cheap off the free agent market these days.

There is one really big thing that nobody is mentioning here. Just like Furcal, Yunel has a cannon! Whomever ends up at 2B would have the best arm for a second baseman in the league, lol. Not that it's really a problem, but you just hate to waste an arm like that. I say we just resign Teix and not worry about this whole crazy scenario.
Speaking of crazy scenario's the one over on Talking Chop today is to wild. The thought about trading Smoltz for anyone, even if it's a former CY Young winner as good as Webb, is just to crazy and hard to stomach. Smoltz will retire a Brave and that's that! :)

Yes, Escobar really does and he proved he did tonight, apparently people don't give him enough credit for it either. Yes, I'd rather resign Teix myself. Furcal also might sign an extension with Dodgers as I learned from MLBTR and updated the post with the link after I made this post this morning.
I know, I saw how the voting was for Webb and it's like we forget all that Smoltz has done for the organization. As good as Webb has been, I would never trade Smoltz for him.
